I'm not sure about you, but I use to ask myself all the time "What is up with this God business?"
Today, I'm sold out for God, Jesus His son and who was God in the form of man, and His Holy Spirit.
Are you still trying to figure it out? Questioning it and Him is a good thing in my book. He's bigger than that, and quite honestly, it was by questioning Him and it, and well all of it, that has gotten me to be so sure today. And that's a place you really want to be in. You're either all in or all out, those in the middle either get hurt, or hurt others. I mean in the end we're all human and we are going to err, but you're more likely to admit your wrongs when you are all for Him.
So here we are. First let's take a poll to see how you feel in the beginning, and take the last poll at the end to see if the list inspired you at all.
Are you seeking?
Truth
Spirituality
If God is real
All of the above
Here are 10 reasons why you should believe in God.
1. What if there is a God?
Have you ever asked yourself, what if God does exist. When I asked myself this for the very first time, my mind literally was blown away, and what they call "fear of the LORD" came upon me. I was frightened at the idea. Not scared like when you watch a scary movie and you need to watch over your shoulder, no. Fear like oh my goodness I'm in the presence of greatness and He knows everything, even little me in my room. I was praying at the time and that I was tired, and I was seeking the Truth. I was tired of living a life, where everyone seemed to know how I should live it but none of it made sense with how I actually wanted to live my life. I was also tired of getting hurt by friends, and men, and I was just TtttTiiiIIiiiirrrrRrrreeEeeeDddd. And that's when the thought dawned on me, and BAM! I was never the same. God became at that very moment very real, and I could no longer deny His presence.
2. When Life gets really hard, do you pray?
Looking back, even when I didn't believe in God, I prayed when things got tough. When a family friend of ours got into a motorcycle accident and was in the hospital on a 70% chance of dying and was about to leave a family of four kiddos and wife behind, I prayed. I cried my heart out. I remember it vividly and asking God or "whoever was listening" that if He could spare him ( my "uncle"we're that close) and have these kids grow up with a dad I would be so grateful, I'd even start going to church. What is crazy, is he survived, the kids grew up with a dad, and I went to church if I was invited and forgot all about my promise. God knew beforehand I wouldn't keep my end of the bargain, but that miracle is still all His Glory, Love, and grace. I just find it interesting that believers and nonbelievers of God will ask for prayers, or pray especially when things get tough. It's like we Know deep down there is some"one" out there who cares. and really it's because there is.
3. Grace: God's unmerited favor
Ephesians 1:2-4 (AMP)
2 May grace (God’s unmerited favor) and spiritual peace [which means peace with God and harmony, unity, and undisturbedness] be yours from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm! 4 Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.
Grace is an amazing thing. God's unmerited favor. Unmerited : undeserved. Something we didn't have to work for to receive. God gives us grace. Throughout our lives, and on a daily basis. Have you noticed? I'm not sure what your specific circumstances are, but the fact you are reading this is grace. You can read, you are alive, you are using a computer, you are somewhere safe and have time to leisurely read a post and search online, do I need to continue?
4. Love
God is love. Usually what you hear is "how can there be a God if there is so much war and poverty and pain and suffering?" But that's a twisted way of trying to blame God for something that is actually entirely our own doing. God doesn't manipulate us to do ANYTHING. WE get to make the choices and our choices have consequences. Our choices leads to war, to poverty, and causes pain and suffering to others. God gives us all a chance to make different choices, but our own seeking of power, pleasure, and vanity result in how we are all living today. Christ came to show us a different kind of living. One that is Self-less, forgiving, loving, helpful, caring, patient, self-control, kind, disciplined, and wise.
Instead of making Jesus our role model, our leader, our Lord, we make others or things our master and they lead us to make choices that are selfish, prideful, hurtful, etc... think about it.
5. Life
Haven't you taken a look around at "Mother Earth" "Mother Nature" or just simply nature around us.
The details, the order of things, the smallest cells existence to our planets alignment to others in the universe. How can it all be coincidental. What's that saying when there are too many coincidences, it's no longer a happenstance, but instead done with purpose and intention and that's where Destiny and Fate enter and gives us hope that we are here for something bigger. Haven't you ever had that feeling you belonged to something much, much, much bigger? no not fame, but something even bigger?
6. Same, same, but different.
It doesn't matter if you come from France, Tunisia, England, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Portugal, Kansas, New Jersey, Mexico, or Wherever you come from, we might not speak the same language, but we have the same needs: Love, comfort, Basic survival essentials, and acceptance. We want to be heard, understood, and cared for. Doesn't matter if we are Woman or Male, or whatever identity we have chosen for our selves, we want to belong and feel part of something. God does that for us. He created us all, and wants us all to recognize He is God so He can care for us the way He wants to, which is the Best way considering He is the creator of all.
Luke 12:6-8(AMP)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two [a]copper coins? Yet not one of them has [ever] been forgotten in the presence of God. 7 Indeed the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not be afraid; you are far more valuable than many sparrows. 8 “I say to you, whoever declares openly and confesses Me before men[speaking freely of Me as his Lord], the Son of Man also will declare openly and confess him [as one of His own] before the angels of God.
7. Fellowship
We seek companionship throughout our life here on earth. Most of the time through and with the wrong people and we learn rather quickly what we like and don't like. Other times we "deal" with people because we love them too much to let go and will put up with whatever they do to us because we want to be there for them. That's what God does for us. No matter if we care about Him, or even believe in Him, He is there. He understands our need for fellowship. After all, haven't we thought about why that may be? I like to think that when you are created by God and He knows every detail about us, from the moment He created us to be conceived to the day we die, all we seek is to be reconnect, reconciled to our maker. God wants us to all have a relationship with Him because it's what our hearts and existence is about. And without it, quite frankly is meaningless and superficial. Why do rich men and women commit suicide, feel lonely, or helpless? Riches aren't the answer, fame either... so what is?
8. Never alone
It doesn't matter where you are, or what you've done, God is there for you. Feel lonely, like no one cares? God does. He is All. He is Everywhere. He is God, and for a reason. Can you trust that?
9. Someone understands you, fully.
We've all gone through life where friendships have ended because of a misunderstanding, or because someone has done something to us that hurt us so much, we no longer want to see that person again. Or perhaps we are that person to someone else. Whatever the case may be, God Knows it all. He not only knows it all, He already knows what your future is all about, and knows what is best for you. Aren't you tired of constantly keeping up with charades to please everyone around you to fit in or be appreciated? Guess what, when you are by yourself and no one is looking and you feel like you can finally "be yourself" God knows that true identity of yours. And He actually knows the desires of your heart, and also wants to help you achieve the "best you" version that is truly what you hope, and wish to be, deep, deep, deep, deep, down. Stop fooling yourself, and let your hair down and be honest with yourself, what is holding you back?
10. There are no secrets, ever.
Doesn't that sound liberating? To have everything open, known, and kept without judgment? I know once I was honest about it all with God, He took it all from my heart, and gave me peace. And did I have a lot to share and give to Him to take. God is truth and there is no darkness in Him. I don't know about you, but that's where I want to be, always.
Matthew 11:28 (AMPC)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden andoverburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will [f]ease and relieve and [g]refresh [h]your souls.]
Are you convinced there is a God
Yes!
Seriously, I'm no fool, NO.
